After realising that a lot of people are ill-informed about Lotus Notes / Domino and its capabilities, I have established this blog (built on Lotus Notes!). With your help, I aim to set the record straight. Please help me redress the balance by sharing your experiences of Lotus Notes and posting all things good about the product - how you use it, how it helps you and how it helps your organisation.  Blog away!

Ok, so I like Lotus Notes (don't love it yet...), and it does have a lot of features that MSFT doesn't have. I'm still learning, though.

Quick question, though. I have a client PC with multiple users. When opening LN, it gives me a login screen where I can select different users. However, when I want to add a new user, I need a user.id file. How can I add a new user and have it create it's own user.id (custom name, of course)? I'd appreciate the help! Perhaps one day, I may end up loving Lotus Notes!

You need to get the user.id file from your system administrator. You cannot create one on your own. This is one of the benefits of using Lotus Notes - the security that the system provides.

Thanks, Graham. Got it! I also found another way, which isn't recommended (editing the notes.ini file), but works. I didn't have to go that route, but got the id file from my LN admin.

Thanks for the reply! :)

I have a method to utilize a single desktop login, but have multiple client sessions, each with their own personal address book, bookmarks, etc, without having to use 'switch ID'.

Provide your email and I'll send you the document.

I'm trying to email ilovelotusnotes so that Brian Graham can send me the document to have multiple users without switching IDs but IE keeps trying to open Outlook instead of Notes & I don't have this configured. I have tried to change it to use Notes but it won't work. Can you please let me know the ilovelotusnotes email address
